Yash Chopra who is widely known as King of Romance is considered as one of the leading filmmakers in the history of Indian cinema. He has given many hits as a director and producer and his contribution to Indian cinema is humongous. And he is the one who reinvented the storytelling of love stories. Chopra who made his debut as a director with Dhool Ka Phool in 1959 gave many hits such as Daag, Kaala Patthar, Chandni and Veer-Zaara among others. SRK starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan which was released in 2012 was his last movie as a director.

Talking about Yash Chopra’s career and recognition, the filmmaker's career spanned more than five decades and he has won several awards including six National awards. The government honoured him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award as well as with Padma Bhushan.
